Even better Now han it tWas Before
If this show used to be good it is even better now after Chicago 2015. I listened to 7/4/15 and then this and was shocked how good I thought the 2015 stuff was. Without Jerry these guys are just a cover band, one I will see but.........

Bobby slidin
This show is really good. I haven't spent to much time in '81, but can tell that I will be soon! There are many highlight in this show. The after drum string is pure and simple frenzy. This good lovin should be in EVERY heads collection. Great adlibs and a playful but meaty grip. The only issue with the first set is the El Paso.. boring...and I guess if you can stomach another PL then this one is screamin enough to tempt you again. The minglewood here is quite note worthy as well. The interplay between brent and bobby on slide is dynamic and bluesy. You can really tell the lift he is giving the group by now in his career. No longer a shy young talent, but a symbol of the bands steel reserve. I have to agree with reviews on other copy of this night that jerry is a little off... you can hear it well on Althea lyrics. I did love the sugaree & candyman pairing. Its comical chaos. The Scarlet is worth a few listens I think. The jammming is dark and smooth. Enjoy

Nice 81, clean SB
Excellent setlist, pretty well played. However, if you like Scarlet>Fire, check out 3/5/81. It blows the doors off this one.

Another awsome Philly Spectrum show
Hightlights from the 1st set for me include the slow drip Candyman and Althea (other than the one hiccup in sound a few min into Althea). Jerry's vocals and guitar work just make those two melt away. The second set features an up tempo Fire and a crowd inspriring Estimated. Both are gems. Recording has a few issues here and there that can easily be overlooked. Overall, a terrific soundboard listening experience.
